O, oh

One moment:
You—waving to me
Under the pool of sky
And the owl cries, “Hoo, hoo!”

Next moment:
You’ve changed and gone—
Evaporated in thin air.
The owl asks, “Who?”

I hoo back;
I haven’t changed:
Still slow rapid,
I go with the flow

Time passes—
I am stagnant,
I am lost,
I am drunk.
I pass out, then
Continue on my way.
Same routine.
Same cycle.

I slow down—

I stop.

I’m stuck.

Solid as a rock.

Warmth returns
I am free
Irushoncarelessly—
I erode.

Now I look up:
Raincloud sky
So familiar
A crowd is forming.

Suddenly—
Like an angel
You fall from the sky
And we are reunited.

No longer ethereal,
All your movements fluid.
And when the owl asks, “Who?”
Together we say, “Hoo, hoo.”

“Irushoncarelessly-” – love how you did that, and also the play on words with “who” and the hoot of the owl. Saw you’re also doing the Thursdays Poet’s Rally, so good luck. 🙂

No, I haven’t. I was having a tough time figuring it out myself but! I think we are required to browse and comment on 18 other participants, then reply “yes” to all contest conditions in the thread below the “Promising Poets Parking Lot” where you are to upload your contest entry. I hooope that this is how it should be done?

“under the pool of sky” — lovely.

I think you meant “stagnant” rather than “stagnate,” unless it was intentional.

There’s an interesting movement and cycle happening in this poem. Makes me wish I were reading it in print.

Re: The Thursday Poet’s Rally, I’ve done it once. From what I can tell, you either post your poem or a link to your poem in the comments thread of the Thursday post. It resulted in lots of cheerful, supportive visitors on my blog, which is less lonely now 🙂

Thanks–and yes, I did meant stagnant. I was trying to decide between the two and had originally picked stagnate, but “am stagnant” was more passive and formed a triplet, so I added am but forgot to change stagnate. It’s fixed now. 🙂
One of the reasons I resisted getting a blog for so long was that internet poetry is so much less appealing than printed poems. Hmm, someday perhaps I’ll get published. 😉
I linked in this week, but wanted to continue linking in. Do you have to be invited every week, or do they only have the contest every other week? Or have they just not posted the link yet?

I have no idea, I actually have all those same questions. Please let me know if you come across any answers and I’ll do the same.
