Time is on Their Side

This the age of enlightenment
That’s what we tell ourselves
As we laugh at dark humor
And put heavy hearts upon the shelves

The era of communication
Or so I have been told
Everyone at your fingertips
Silent treatment too cold

Age of entertainment
Yet all the thrills seem cheap
Though they come at hefty price
What you sow you must then reap

Where’s the spirit of this age,
Hidden in some deep hole?
Look around, tears make great glasses
It’s a time without a soul

First stanza is fabulous! Also love – “age of entertainment, yet all the thrills seem cheap.” You write beyond your years oftentimes.
