For Newtown

Puddleglum

Nothing I say will unsplash the waters
Spilling from these wells,
Watering this hallowed ground,
Rippling in the aftershock
Of this torturous tragedy.
But I will still say I’m praying for you
And weeping:
Jesus wept.

You have expressed the outpouring of grief so well in the first 3 lines of this poem, and the sense of helplessness so many of us feel. Thank you for sharing on Real Toads.

Thank you–this was an extremely difficult write and I really wish I could write a more fitting tribute, but I’ll leave that to those who know the families. Thank you for reading.

This is so heartfelt! Your first line is wonderful and you are right, it is so hard to write about this tragedy.

Thanks, for writing this, Wordcoaster; it’s helpful to hear/read how others are processing through the grief. Calling upon His Name with you!

Thank you–my pastor preached a powerful sermon on Jesus’ empathy. If God, who understands all things can weep at death, then how much more appropriate for those who haven’t got a clue.
