Nickel for Your Dreams

Don’t hedge your bets//
Too often we stand at the cliff edge and blink ourselves into oblivion,
Unsure whether to close our eyes to the vastness

Or let it wash over us
Like a summertime sprinkler in a best friend’s hands–
But you cannot drown in it,
No matter how you spin it
Each drop has a life of its own,

So savor each one
Like a miser searching through the couch cushions:
Each find more precious than the last–

Your past
Is gold;
The present’s platinum.

Enjoy it, but be thrifty;
Don’t spend it all at once.

The petals come undone

    Your past

    How perfectly beautiful 🙂

      Thanks! This was a rather scattered poem–I think I’m much better with form poems. I think in general form poems are better as well, but… that’s just me 🙂
