Scarcity and the Sacred

Sometimes it takes a forest fire
To revitalize a forest:
There’s certain pine cones that when burned
Release their seeds in chorus.

Sometimes it takes a loss of life
To save a population–
Not Malthus’ way, but Jesus Christ’s
Redemption of creation.

For death, dark death, was not the end
The tomb was not the finish,
But life, sweet life, has overcome
And never shall diminish!
