Words About The Word

Mundane and Marvelous

Photo by Claire Anthony

God’s word has been given to us
In ways mundane and marvelous:
The past word was hand-me-down,
But now wears a royal gown.
“Son, your sins are forgiven”–
Curtain drastically riven.
God’s word has been given to us
In ways mundane and marvelous.

Heartist Decision

The house burned down and all within;
I fled the flames with book and pen–
Didn’t rescue valuables
While rushing through the smoke-filled halls,
Didn’t grab technologies:
They weren’t top priorities.
The house burned down and all within;
I fled the flames with book and pen.
