Governments
Leave turgid ways
Behind like fresh footprints
Zig-zagging haphazard sand maze
At beach bottleneck when miscreant brays,
“There’s a shark in the water, everyone run!”–then
Tear down your burlap Berlin wall replays,
Light the bright demarcation blaze,
Enter effervescence:
Perspective sways–
Lather, rinse,
Commence
Zen.

Worn
Sky blue
Green and new
Dry barren land
Shafts of light streaming through
Strip vibrance from verdant trees and
Turn inside out, draining, the Rio Grande
Walk a narrow road neither brilliant nor forlorn
Not a sunburnt country, just darkly tanned
Tapestry weaving Martian strand
With sea’s rebellious coup
Breakers meet sand
Foamy stew
Salt view
Torn
